We in Transport Action Prairie wish to express our profound respect and
appreciation for the contribution of David Onodera, until recently the City
of Regina's director of transit. In his short stay, he produced enormous
benefit for Regina. He also lived a leadership role that is a model for us
    all.

David insisted that public transit must serve the people. He was always
willing - even eager - to meet, and truly listen to, anyone, and take their
concerns seriously. He publicly commended the work, ideas and support of
citizen groups such as the Regina Citizens' Public Transit Coalition. He
made the citizens feel part of the team.

David had a broad vision of the critical importance of transit for the
well being of all citizens, the city and the planet. He welcomed the
recommendations of consultants and citizens culminating in the Transit
Investment Plan. He worked to bring the plan to reality despite the lack of
funding by governments at all levels. A skilled communicator, he shared his
enthusiasm and vast knowledge. Above all, he met us as one human being to
    another.

He also showed us that, when used, buses are inexpensive and restorable.
They can bring history and interesting variety as well as tax-dollar value.
While we are deeply disappointed he has left, we believe that wherever he
    settles will be truly enriched.

    Thank you, David.

Verrall is president of Transport Action Prairie (formerly Transport 2000).
